Duke of Edinburgh SEND Leaders

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is for all young people between the ages of 14 and 25. DofE programme has three progressive levels which, when successfully completed, leads to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Any young person can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, background or location. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries. Participants in the Award gain new experiences, meet new people, challenge themselves and have fun, whilst gaining new skills and building confidence.

We are seeking adults with SEND experience to help support our new Hart Open Award Centre, specifically aimed at young people with additional needs as an inclusive and adaptive opportunity for them.

3 Leaders are required, with one Leader being asked to take on additional co-ordination responsibilities (this volunteer must have experience of working with children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)) . Sessions will be fortnightly with time in between for preparation of activity - activity sessions of 2 hours duration max and will take place in Hook. Group numbers will be 10 max for young people aged 14-25 years.
