Opportunities with Crookham War Memorial Halls

About

The Crookham War Memorial and Willis Halls were opened in the mid -1950s, but the halls' origins go back to 1945. At the end of WWII the people of Fleet and Crookham threw street parties and celebrated VE (Victory in Europe) Day. It was however a bittersweet time, as many families had loved ones that would not be coming home to enjoy the festivities with them. Acknowledging this, the people of Crookham got together and decided that a more lasting tribute was needed and the decision was made to raise funds to build a local memorial hall. Fundraising events took place from 1949 onwards, and by 1955, a site and architect had been chosen. The original plans were too costly so the vision for the new hall had to be scaled back. The Crookham War Memorial Hall was completed and opened in May 1956.
