About
Ocean Stars Trust was formed in 2005, following the tsunami on Boxing Day 2004. Working directly with the Sri Lankan people, OST prides itself in the close support that it provides to beneficiaries and ensuring that the desired benefits have been achieved. OST supports a wide range of projects across Sri Lanka but has a special interest in child education especially that of pre-school children where there is little government support in the country.
The development of a preschool education programme is central to the work of Ocean Stars in Sri Lanka. We believe that education empowers children and their families and can enable them to build a way out of poverty. OST now manages 20 preschools across the country and provides education for 600 children, aged between 3 and 6. The schools have all been developed in areas where, previously, no educational opportunities existed
Calthorpe Park School in Fleet have a cultural link with the charity and have been out to Sri Lanka to visit four different schools there.
