The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment, training, and retention of our volunteer team. This is a vital role that ensures we have the right people with the right skills to keep the station running smoothly and effectively. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, enthusiastic, and people-oriented individual with a passion for community radio.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment:
- Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy to attract a diverse range of new volunteers.
- Advertise volunteer opportunities through various channels, including social media, local community groups, and our website.
- Conduct initial interviews and screenings of prospective volunteers.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of volunteer applications and information.
- Onboarding and Training:
- Create and deliver a comprehensive induction program for all new volunteers.
- Ensure all volunteers are aware of station policies, procedures, and their roles and responsibilities.
- Coordinate with department heads (e.g., Programming, Technical, Marketing) to ensure volunteers receive appropriate training for their specific roles.
Management and Support:
- Act as the primary point of contact for all volunteers, providing ongoing support and guidance.
- Manage the volunteer rota and scheduling, ensuring all shifts are covered.
- Address any volunteer issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Implement a system for tracking volunteer hours and contributions.
- Retention and Recognition:
- Organize social events and recognition programs to show appreciation for our volunteers' hard work.
- Identify opportunities for volunteer growth and development within the station.
- Gather feedback from volunteers to continually improve the volunteer experience.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with strong administrative abilities.
- A friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic personality.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
- Experience in volunteer coordination or a similar role is desirable, but not essential.
- A passion for community radio and the Basingstoke community.
