Want to make a difference for vision impaired people in Hampshire?
Help OpenSight achieve its Mission – join us as a Trustee
We are a leading Hampshire charity supporting people with a vision impairment to live independently, stay connected, and participate confidently in their communities. As we roll out a new strategy to expand our reach and impact, we are looking for committed and proactive individuals to join our Board of Trustees.
You don’t need previous trustee experience — we’ll provide guidance and support — but you do need enthusiasm, good communication skills, and a desire to help shape our future. This is a rewarding opportunity to gain experience in charity governance and play a meaningful role in improving the lives of people with sight loss.
Skills
We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in ophthalmology, community services, fundraising, property management, financial management, or charity governance, although this is not essential.
As a Trustee, you will:
• Attend monthly Board meetings (a mix of in person and online)
• Provide constructive challenge and guidance to support our strategic direction
• Help ensure strong governance and effective oversight
• Optionally join sub committees or support outreach and fundraising activities
Time commitment: Around 5 hours per month.
What we offer
You’ll join a friendly, professional, and diverse team working in an inspiring environment. Trustees gain valuable insight into the charitable sector and the satisfaction of knowing their skills directly support staff, volunteers, and the thousands of people we serve each year.
If you are motivated, collaborative, and passionate about making a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
