Chairman of Committee

This is an enjoyable and rewarding role, with a relatively light time commitment — typically just monthly meeting plus an AGM. It’s a great opportunity for someone who would like to play an active part in helping guide the committee, support its members and shape its future.

The Chairman will:

• Lead and chair committee meetings, which are usually held monthly or as needed.
• Organise and chair the AGM, agreeing a suitable date and venue with the committee.
• Work with the Secretary to ensure the AGM agenda covers all the usual business, along with any additional items submitted at least 14 days beforehand.
• Help keep things moving between meetings, discussing important matters with committee members by phone or email when required.
• Provide a casting vote if a decision ever results in a tie.
• Meet prospective members occasionally, where appropriate, with the option of asking other committee members to assist.

The role is not onerous, but it is an important one. We are looking for someone who is approachable, organised and willing to help steer the committee forward while maintaining the friendly and constructive spirit that has been built up over many years.

Our current Chairman would be delighted to see someone new take on the role and bring their own ideas, enthusiasm and experience to it.
